Drive to Feed Kids
From Farm to Backpack
Drive to Feed Kids launched in 2017 to build collaborative partnerships among non-profit organizations, farmers and agricultural businesses committed to addressing food insecurity across the state. Missouri Farmers Care leverages existing food bank distribution networks and provides resources for kid-friendly meals to youth through backpack meal programs and in-school food pantries. Additionally, Drive to Feed Kids allows the agriculture community an opportunity to share their utilization of science and technology to responsibly produce food for our communities and world.

The Movement
Drive to Feed Kids has become an inspiring movement. Local youth and agriculture groups come together to host meal packing events and serve their neighbors. Hogs For Hunger was launched in 2020. Through this specialized initiative, Missouri Farmers Care, the Missouri Pork Association and partners unite to deliver high-quality protein to families in need. So far, Hogs For Hunger has provided 2,720,128 servings of pork for children and families facing hunger.
The Challenge
Nearly 13 million kids in the U.S. are food insecure. That number includes hundreds of thousands of Missouri kids here in the nation’s agricultural heartland. In rural Missouri, as many as one in six people face food insecurity. Among children, the numbers are even higher. In parts of Missouri, one in three children face food insecurity on a regular basis.
The Solution
The Drive to Feed Kids builds collaborative partnerships among non-profit organizations and agriculture businesses who are committed to standing in the gap of food insecurity. In an effort to combat childhood food insecurity, Missouri Farmers Care utilizes existing food bank distribution networks to deliver kid-friendly meals to youth through backpack programs and in-school food pantries.
