Our Vision

All Missourians will understand the truth about modern agriculture, food production and farm life and realize their connection to Missouri’s food security, economy and social well-being.

History & Purpose

The Need for Connection

Recognizing that the connection between consumers and agriculture was continuing to widen, Missouri’s agriculture community came together in 2010 to form Missouri Farmers Care. Their vision was to promote agriculture and rural communities and give Missouri agriculture a unified voice. The organization brought more than 40 leading commodity groups, ag organizations and agribusinesses together in partnership.

The Early Years

Missouri Farmers Care was unique, providing an avenue for commodity groups, agribusinesses and non-profits to work together. The new coalition worked to coordinate agricultural storytelling to help Missourians better understand and appreciate Missouri agriculture.

In its early years, MFC focused on uniting the agricultural sector to respond to legislative and regulatory  threats and challenges facing Missouri farm families. The group helped mobilize support for Missouri’s “Right to Farm” constitutional amendment (Amendment 1) in 2014, which was aimed at protecting farmers from onerous, misleading efforts to regulate agriculture by outside interest groups.

Rooted in Missouri Agriculture

Missouri Farmers Care advances Missouri agriculture by connecting farmers, ranchers, and agricultural organizations through education, economic development, and community-focused programs. Each initiative is designed to strengthen agriculture’s role in Missouri’s economy, workforce, and rural communities.

Our Initiatives

Economic development initiatives, including the Agri-Ready County Designation, help Missouri communities remain competitive for agricultural investment. By encouraging policies that support agriculture and agribusiness, these programs keep value-added production, commodity utilization, and jobs in Missouri.

Missouri Farmers Care also supports agriculture’s commitment to community through food security programs that connect farm productivity with families facing hunger. These initiatives reflect agriculture’s role in providing nourishment and caring for Missouri’s children.

Through agricultural education programs, Missouri Farmers Care increases understanding of modern farming, food production, and agricultural careers. These efforts support long-term growth by building awareness and trust among students, consumers, and future leaders across Missouri.

Stewardship recognition programs highlight Missouri farmers and ranchers who demonstrate responsible land and livestock management. By promoting conservation and sustainability, Missouri Farmers Care reinforces practices that protect natural resources and strengthen agriculture for future generations.

Missouri Farmers Care (MFC) is educating baseball fans about agriculture through the “Race to the Plate” initiative. Throughout the upcoming St. Louis Cardinals season, fans will interact with the MFC “Farm Team” through radio messaging, print advertisements, in-stadium videos and social media content, as well as in-person activities at select games.

Together, Missouri Farmers Care programs support a strong, resilient Missouri agriculture industry and vibrant rural communities statewide.
