3C Cattle Company is a family operation owned by Todd and Robyn Creason and their son, Jordan, located near Carrollton in Agri-Ready Carroll County. Ryan Royle, 3C cattle manager, brings 25 years of beef industry, cattle management, and husbandry experience to work every day.

“The 3C objective is to design bulls that will work for almost any producer, because our goal is for customers to return again and again to purchase their next bull from us,” Ryan says.

Elevating Genetics

As an innovative entrepreneur in the pipeline industry, Todd chose to focus on bull genetics when he founded 3C Cattle Company in 2014 with a registered Angus herd. His long-term vision for the company was to serve as a future career for his son. As Jordan’s role on the 3C has expanded through the years, the company’s method has remained the same: constant innovation and improvement of Angus genetics that will serve any commercial beef herd.

How They Do It

“We are looking to develop bulls that were born with a moderate birthweight, good maternal history, and a uniform phenotypical appearance.” Ryan explains.

Bulls that fit the 3C ideal transition into the bull development program. Bull calves that do not qualify immediately become feeder steers and play an important role in showcasing 3C genetics.

“Nothing sells bulls better than if you can share carcass results on their sire group. It gives buyers a good idea what kind of calves they can expect from a bull,” Ryan says.

Creating Beef for Consumers

“Growing beef is all about timing. Marbling takes time. A good cattleman can feed a beef animal with any genetics and produce nutritious, delicious beef. It’s just a matter of how much time it takes,” Ryan explains. “Some bloodlines create high maintenance animals that require a lot of inputs; at 3C, we keep cattle that are ideal for growing on the ranch.”

“All 3C cattle stay out on pasture with supplemental rations. Our bulls don’t grow as fast, but we believe that slower growth helps them become more structurally sound,” Ryan shares.

“The 3C has been a great opportunity for Ashley and I to work together as a dynamic team since 2023. It’s been a fantastic way to get our sons involved in agriculture and teach them the ropes,” Ryan shares. “We feel that no matter where they end up, they have a diverse skill set and a background in agriculture that will allow them to succeed in the future.”

Ryan credits Ashley with her meticulous record keeping and her reliable, instant recall on a lot of data. Mandy Potter helps with marketing and outreach for the 3C and other hands-on ranch duties. Jordan oversees daily delivery of rations to all the cattle and is involved with herd health and maintenance. Jordan is always eager to learn and improve his cattle management skills everyday. Todd and Jordan put up hay together each summer, a valuable resource for the 3C herds each winter. Robyn manages the 3C Event Center which can transform to host auctions, sales, weddings and more throughout the year.
