Drive to feed kids-01

About the Drive

In 2017, Missouri Farmers Care launched the Drive to Feed Kids, an effort to combat childhood food insecurity and showcase Missouri agriculture. Our efforts provided 52,000 nutritious meals and 9,000 pounds of food donations to Missouri children who face hunger on a regular basis. In addition, the drive raised more than $146,000 for Feeding Missouri, the coalition of six Missouri food banks.

This year, Missouri Farmers Care asks you to join them in the fight against childhood hunger. Even here in the nation’s agricultural heartland, one in three children face food insecurity. When children face uncertain access to food, it presents challenges in coming to school ready to learn and thrive. With this in mind, our goal is to double the number of child-friendly meals packaged to 100,000 and to double our monetary donation.

The Drive to Feed Kids event will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia as a part of an effort to educate the public about agriculture’s productivity and the challenges of combating hunger. The event coincides with the Missouri FFA Food Insecurity Service Day where hundreds of FFA members from across the state will come together to pack 100,000 meals for kids in need.

Missouri Farmers Care is seeking the partnership of companies and individuals to make its summer of service a success.

Contact us to explore how to partner with Missouri Farmers Care, Feeding Missouri, and the Missouri State Fair to address childhood food insecurity across Missouri. All proceeds will be dedicated to Feeding Missouri’s partner agencies engaged in addressing childhood hunger and will be presented at the Missouri State Fair on Aug. 18.
